Standards

Editorial Policy

The principles used to prepare, describe and maintain Notes Lab material.

Purpose

Notes Lab publishes practical technical material intended to help readers understand tools, diagnose problems and make informed choices.

Research and verification

Where possible, factual claims are checked against primary documentation, standards, direct testing or other clearly identified sources. Procedures should state the relevant platform, version or conditions when those details affect the result.

Material status

  • Tested: a procedure or result was checked in a real environment described on the page.
  • Reviewed: the material was reviewed for technical accuracy.
  • Reference: the page is based primarily on documented technical sources.
  • Explainer: the page explains a concept without claiming hands-on testing.

Updates and corrections

Technical information can change. Pages should show an update or review date where freshness matters. Corrections can be submitted to editorial@noteslab.net.

Scope and limitations

Notes Lab material is informational. It may not cover every device, service, jurisdiction or unusual technical environment. Important limitations and uncertainty should be stated rather than hidden.
